This position is a W2 role.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director (FD) and or the Chief Steward Officer (CSO).
Supervises: Responsible for supervising the functions of accounting clerks, including basic general ledger, receivables, accounts payable, and bookkeeping, for the organization and all of its subsidiaries.
The Accounting Clerk Supervisor (ACS) is responsible for making sure that the clerks carry out their duties properly and that all accounting jobs are completed at the appropriate target. ACS will coordinate and ensure a balance in accounting records and play a critical role during inside and outside accounting audits. ACS will reconcile and validate all transactions, invoices, and receipts that occur, input the necessary data in accounting databases (digital and paper) document checks, and prepare backup reports, as well as handle the general ledger and update vendor files every month. Guarantees appropriate reconciliation of bank accounts. ACS will prepare all receipts for tax filing each year. ACS will conduct regular accounting meetings with Finance Director, CSO, and ED as well as accounting clerks when necessary. ACS will also take part in general staff meetings and help with the enhancement of finance department procedures and policies that need to be accomplished. ACS will train all accounting clerks and address training issues as they arise. Ensures all financial records, both digital and paper, are secured at all times. Must be a part of the tax team during tax audits, payroll, and annual tax filing preparations. Must keep abreast of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws and regulations.
Requirements
The Account Clerk Supervisor should possess the following skills:- Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, with extended knowledge of clerical functions. Or an Associate Degree in accounting or finance with 2 years of bookkeeping and or accounting experience.
- Working understanding of accounting methods, programming, and databases applications
- Exceptional verbal communication, listening, and social skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Team management skills
- Ability to multitask
- Able to prioritize work
- Fundamental mathematics skills with basic knowledge of computer operations and principles
- Working knowledge and use of calculators, adding machines, bank accounts, and databases
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks; other accounting applications is a plus
- Able to generate finance reports upon request
- A team player and a problem solver
Minimum Requirements
Will Consider Applicants With The Following Skill Set- Accounting certification (e.g. CMA or CPA is a plus)
