As an independent music artist, I have had quite a bit of success as a songwriter, which all happened by accident and based on a dare. In the early stages, building a music career was not on my radar, nor was it something I ever considered as an option for myself. But here I am.

I started in the early stages with an artist management company by accident – doing a favor for a friend that spun off into something I could have never imagined for myself. But honoring a friend’s request for free, in the long run, created a greater opportunity for me to be blessed with a small but very successful artist management company for several years. At least until GOD showed up and flipped the script on me – but in a good way. LOL.

I had the privilege to work with some very solid and talented artists like my girl Ace Reign (Hip Hop/Rap artist/music producer); Canada Hip Hop/Rap artist, Kruxify; R&B recording artist, D Fame; recording artist and music producer, Lacy B; recording artist John Taylor, and a few other guys. I cannot begin to mention the names of international artists who started reaching out to me through at least one of the artists I was working with, inquiring if I could help them promote, manage, and market their projects. Again, just when things were really about to explode and get crazy – GOD stepped into my life like a beaming light and took me in a completely different direction with my music.

I really don’t know, nor can I explain how I ended up with such a large pool of talented recording artists and music producers. However, it happened and I learned a lot from these artists. Even one of my artists triggered me to start my own songwriting career. Again, making and producing music was not a goal, or on my radar. I didn’t even know I had a gift to write music. But this artist saw something in me that I could not see in myself at the time. Therefore, I owe much gratitude to my girl Ace Reign for my music success. Without her constantly harassing, pushing, and then daring me to take up her challenge, which finally convinced me to do it, which changed a lot for me.

Since then, I have had great success as an independent artist.

  • My music has been played in international film projects
  • Aired on at least one of BBC radio stations
  • Expanded in over 21 countries
  • My single Don’t Know How To Love has won a Grand Prize in a songwriting Competition as well as ranked as the #1 single in a songwriting competition
  • My music has ranked within the Top 10 and Top 40 songwriting competition charts at least 6 dozen times
  • I have had potential music offers with Def Jam Recordings and Virgin Records International
  • As well as gained hundreds of supporting fans for my music over the years

I am NOT sharing all of these to brag. But I am doing so to inspire you.

The independent music route is doable. Granted, it is a lot of work, and it takes a great deal of time and patience to really grow your music and brand, especially to build a solid and loyal team around you. But it can be done. I’ve done it.

I haven’t released any new music since 2017 or 2018 but I am still receiving royalties from projects I did at least 6 years ago.
